I have been working on the Bill Daniels Scholarship all year from the summer between my junior and senior year clear up till now. For this scholarship I was required to write multiple essays, fill out multiple forms of information about me and my parents. With this scholarship there were three fazes you needed to pass. First you had to get nominated and sent to the Denver scholarship committe which I passed on to. Then you had to get picked from a group of hundreds of kids to get interviewed which I passed also. Lastly I had to get interviewed. This part of the scholarship seemed as though it was the hardest part of all. I went through multiple mock interviews with my Daniels Fund helper. The day of interviews myself and Derrick Moody and two kids from Star Valley went to Evanston, Wyo. Practice, practice, practice was what the ride over was full of and it just so happened to help. First I was interviewed by a panel of three judges who asked multiple question. These were questions I had known the answer to through all this practice so it turned out much better than I thought at first. Then I was interviewed by a man from the Bill Daniels Committe which was easy and comfortable as well because he was very nice and just extremely welcoming. Both sets of these interviews went by very smoothly and I was very proud of myself.
On April 24th, 22 days of long awaited anticipation I was at a track meet in Montpelier, ID when I recieved a phone call from Jan Moody telling me that both Derrick and I had become Bill Daniels Recipients. I was so overwhelmed with joy and excitement I didn't even relize how easy my next race seemed to be. Now with this scholarship I can go to ANY school ANYWHERE I want!!!
I am so grateful for this opportunity I have had to be able to recieve a scholarship like this. I will now be able to get my degree and not be so worried about going into debt and I can focus more on getting better grades and just enjoying my time.
