As a continuation of my last post I still have so much I want to share with others and hopefully in some way help at least one person. have had so much on my mind lately that for the last month I have constantly getting this feeling I need to share with others to help them in whatever way it does or maybe it's to help me I'm not completely sure yet I will never know until I share my thoughts and feelings.
Losing loved ones is never easy, for me the last 2.5 years have been a major struggle with this. In June 2012 I placed my son for open adoption with a wonderful family in New Mexico. Placing him was hard enough but even more so knowing I wouldn't get to see him all the time. Thankfully they send me pictures and updates on him regularly. Then in November 2012 my world was turned upside down when just after getting home from Thanksgiving break I was informed that my dad had Stage 3 Lung Cancer. I went through the whole range of emotions, shock, denial, anger and acceptance but each stage was honestly terrible. My dad was the parent that knew everything about me, he could tell you my favorite things, my first boyfriend, the first boy to kiss me or take me on a date, he was always there supporting me and keeping me in line. Anytime I had a question it was to dad that I ran whether it was regarding boys, school, church, sports, or even all that wonderful female stuff. My dad was my rock! When I first got the message I instantly started bawling, I felt like someone had just dropped the empire state building on me, I couldn't breath, couldn't see, couldn't think, I was frozen. The doctors had given my dad a year to live. All I could think about was all the stories and advice he had given us. Night after night I would stay awake reliving everything my dad had ever said to us kids, thinking about all our fun trips together, him disciplining us always saying how it hurt him more than us and laughing thinking yeah right.
My mind was over flowing with memories made with him swimming at state wrestling, skiing with him, telling us stories about his life, watching him so faithfully take care of his dad, seeing the smile that would spread across his face each time a child that didn't live at home would take time out of their schedule to come visit and him always saying before we would leave how much he appreciated us coming to see him taking time to be a part of his posterity and what not. I remember all those Sunday afternoons playing outside on the basketball hoop, jump roping, eating chocolate pudding, and many others. I think of all our family reunions dad playing games like Sardines, Kick the Can, Hide and Seek and many others, I remember him standing around the fire talking to his posterity, his amazing dutch oven chicken. I think of how he always had one of the grandbabies on his lap or in his arms, watching him mow the lawn with the little ones even Ammon on his shoulders or helping push the mower until they feel asleep and then him just holding them while finishing up. I can't thank my dad enough for teaching me to work and love the outdoors. Every time spring/summer shows up I think of all the lawn work and gardening that dad was going to make us do that day and what other chores he would decide to pile on. I loved how he didn't just tell us what to do, he would do it with us, teach us how to do it and take the time out of his day to show us. I loved getting to sit out with him on the front porch or the deck and just look out at nature and him always say how pretty it was and how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful place, to treasure the beauty of the earth. I could hear his laugh constantly in my mind anytime someone would say something that dad would laugh at or I would watch a movie that he would think was funny or even when I would do something that I know dad would have gotten a kick out of. I can hear him singing all the time especially in his wonderful Frank Sinatra voice and especially around christmas time. I remember going out the day after Thanksgiving getting to pick out our Christmas tree and one for grandma and getting to help cut it down and drag it back to the vehicle. I remember all those long drives dad took me on to help me get my drivers license, and the things he would tell me about becoming a respectable young lady and to always make him and God proud and the advice he would give me about boys and what I needed to do better in sports. So many things would keep me awake at night trying to preserve everything I had of my father. I remember him calling me early in the morning when I was away at calling just to tell me to go mow a lawn or the he was eating a bowl of raspberries and milk or peaches and milk or even to call me and tell me he was eating my favorite ice cream. I remember all the times he would sit the family down to give us a talk or have a discussion at the kitchen table.
Being that I was away at school with no car I didn't get to go home and see him much so phone calls had to do it for the time being which never seemed like enough to me. In July 2013 dad had a major stroke, I got the call while helping my boss move and she instantly knew something wasn't right. That same night I was scheduled to get my patriarchal blessing. I showed up crying and left crying, that poor patriarch had never seen anything like it before. Still to this day I'm so grateful I had the amazing boss I did that was so understanding and let me take the weekends off work to go be with my family. That weekend my brother in-law and I drove all through the night to get to the hospital and the family. I had the hardest time going into the hospital room the first time, I didn't want to see my dad hurting and in pain. We spent a week or two there before going to Cokeville to take care of things there. I had to look at pictures of my happy fun-loving dad all the time so that that was how I would remember him. It seemed like there were people that had given up on him so early when I couldn't do that to the only man that always no matter what had faith and believed in me.
I did have to go back to work and school but every weekend I got the chance to go home I did, having a sister and brother in-law move up by me helped a ton cause then we could go down together and had each other to help through this time. There were a couple weekend where we rushed home because they told us dad wasn't going to make it so we would pack our bags in a hurry, get everything taken care of with us and then get on the road as soon as possible. Then in November 2013 one weekend we got the call again saying they were sure he wasn't going to make it. We got on the road as fast as we possibly could. About Kemmerer we got the call saying he had passed, we didn't make it back in time.
Every one always tells you how the death of a loved one gets easier with time and I am here to tell you that is a bunch of crap!!! It doesn't get easier, you just learn to live, to put a smile on your face and be happy because thats what your loved one would want. I hate it when people tell me that he is in a better place. Yeah he is with God but you can't honestly tell me that he wouldn't rather be with his family, his posterity watching their sports games, seeing their job success, and watching the family grow, welcoming babies and new in-laws and what not into the family. Yes I know he had lots a questions for God and what not but I still think he would love to be here physically with his family. Like I said it never gets easier you just learn how to make life go on, you'll have those days where it doesn't fair or right that he had to go so soon and so quick which it wasn't but you keep going and pushing on knowing that he wouldn't want you crying and moping around, that he would want you to get on with your life and be happy. Dad was always about the little things in life and I think he helped us all see how important those are. He had a contagious smile, laughter and personality, he could talk to anybody about anything.
There are so many lessons, memories, and thoughts I could share about my wonderful father but the post would never end. I just want to remind everyone that its okay to cry and share how you feel. It's okay to let people be and not always have to be on there case. Everyone grieves differently and at a different pace. Please let them do so without having to jump in and try to save the day or fix anything. Everyone has their own relationship with the deceased one they love and things might take one person longer than another so just be mindful that we are each are own person, we feel and think things differently, give everyone the space and time they need.
I couldn't be more grateful to all the wonderful people that helped my family in this time of need and I will never be able to fully express my gratitude to you all but I do want to say THANK YOU! You made a difference and for that we are extremely grateful, we may not be great at showing it but I can promise you all we thinking about how you all helped daily and how much it means to us, we will never forget it.

Open Adoption...A Blessing For All
I have had so much on my mind lately that for the last month I have constantly getting this feeling I need to share with others to help them in whatever way it does or maybe it's to help me I'm not completely sure yet I will never know until I share my thoughts and feelings.
We have all made mistakes and done things that we aren't proud of and that we could take back but since that isn't really something we can do we just learn from those times and make ourselves better. I can honestly say that I have done and said many things I am not proud of and as much as I regret doing those things they have made me who I am today.
In September 2011 after a college football game I went to a party held at my friends house. Everyone was drinking and I followed in suit. That night there were a group of boys going around putting date rape drugs in girls drinks when they weren't looking. I only remember a couple hours of the party that night before the next thing I remember was waking up sore, feeling disgusted with myself for not knowing what happened. That night 4 young ladies and myself were taken advantage of. We were found in the basement of my friends house by him and one of his roommates who clothed us, carried us out to the car and drove me home to my place where they stayed awake all night just watching over us. I only know one of the other ladies that went through this same experience but through it we bonded and I wouldn't trade their friendship for anything.
4 out of the 5 of us ended up pregnant and think a big part of that was that some of those girls hung out all the time and their cycles were synced or something I'm not sure. I can gladly say every one of us chose life for our little ones! One girl chose to raise her daughter by herself with the help of her family, they are so happy and doing well to this day. One girl place her son for closed adoption, she has a family of her own now and the adoption has since become open. The other two of us decided placing our sons in open adoption is what was best for us and our little ones, the one girl actually moved in with the parents that were adopting her son during her pregnancy, she is now finishing up her degree with 1 semester left to go. As for me my open adoption was a little different. The adoption process was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. Trying to find the perfect family for not only your little one but one that will you trust with your child and can be a part of as well. I found two wonderful families that I knew either one would be a wonderful pick for my son. The day he was born I knew who he needed to be with. I can honestly say I've never cried more in my life than when I was pregnant knowing that I wouldn't get to experience all those wonderful first with my baby. But I can honestly tell you that I wouldn't have it any other way, as hard as it is. I knew I wouldn't be able to give my son everything I wanted him to have. He needed a mom and dad, someone that could spend lots of time with him instead of always working to provide a life for him. There were so many things I wanted him to be able to have that I knew the only way I could give him that was to place him for open adoption. I get regular updates and pictures of him. I get to see him. I know he is with a wonderful family. Not only did I bless their lives by placing a child with them that they couldn't have themselves but they blessed my life in selflessly loving my little guy. Each time they send me pictures or tell me things he does it brings tears to my eyes know that even though I'm not the one raising him that he has characteristics and traits passed down from me and that he will always have part of his birth-mom with him.
Open adoption has been such a blessing to me. I want everyone to know about it! I had the privilege of helping teach a class on it and I would do that again in a heartbeat even if that means driving all over the country to teach classes to high school students, college kids, families and friends. Adoption has changed so much of the course of time just like everything else that people need to have their eyes opened to it. Placing a baby for adoption is in no way giving up on your responsibilities as that child's parent or saying you don't love them, its actually doing the exact opposite! The adoption community has become my family, they support each other like any family member would and I'm grateful to have them in my life. I will gladly help anyone that wants to know more or learn more come to know everything there is about open adoption. I never realized how many wonderful couples are out there trying to have children of there own and can't, it breaks my heart knowing how many of those wonderful couples are out there struggling for the righteous desire to have a family and then seeing crackhead women or high school girls getting knocked up. I'm in no way saying that they can't be good parents I just wish we would look at every option available to use. I have many friends that raised children on there own when the baby daddy didn't want anything to do with them and they are happy and living good lives, like I said I just wish everyone would look at every option there is out there for them. Not everything is for everyone, we must pick and choose, just please choose wisely for the sake of not only you but that amazing little miracle baby God has so gracefully placed in your care to make the right decisions for them.

Being Engaged!
So lots has happened since I updated my blog and I'm sorry for being such a slacker with that. On August 4th Levi Collins proposed to me up Happy Jack right outside of Laramie, WY.
He and I met my freshman year of college at state wrestling. We have had our ups and downs but he has always been there for and been patiently waiting for me to decide I was going to marry him. My family met him the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college and they have been trying to convince me to marry him since the very moment they met him.
Levi is 29, he is a science teach and a coach in Lovell, WY which is where he is from. He is loves being outdoor and staying active. He has been around all my family and the million little kids running around the place and has stuck it out and stayed around.
We are getting married November 29, 2013 in the Logan temple and couldn't be happier to start our lives together.

Father's Day
With it being Fathers Day this last Sunday I wanted to write about my amazing father. My dad has helped me through so many challenges in my life. He has always been the man I go to when life is throwing curve-ball's right at my face and I don't know how to dodge them. Dad keeps me going and has always been there to catch me when I fall or am ready to give up on life and everything in it that's going wrong.
My dad has taught me so many lessons I can't even list them all. Some of my favorite and most memorable lessons from him are these though:
-Hard work/Work Ethic
-Being able to talk to anyone
-Always stay positive and having a smile on your face
-Trusting in the Lord no matter what the situation or circumstance is
-Love life to the fullest
-Your family will always be your best and truest friends
-The Gospel is one of the most important things in life
There are many more lessons and things I could list about my father but that would take me years to do. He has taught me more than I could ever imagine to teach my children when that day comes and I just hope I can someday be as good of a parent as my father was to me.
Dad and I definitely had our struggles but no matter what he never left my side. He was always there to help me through my struggles, mistakes, and confused times. Dad was always by my side helping me through in a way that I would learn from the situation so that it wouldn't happen again. He never took my burden from me but always made it a learning situation and for that I am extremely grateful to him.
Through these last 7 months of my father having stage 3 Lung Cancer I have learned more and noticed more about him than I ever could have imagined. I lay awake at night just thinking about all the wonderful stories he has shared with us children and think about the lessons that he has taught us. I have met countless people through my father whether he was there to introduce me to them or they happened to hear my last name and connect me to the wonderful David Teichert. It seems that I can't go anywhere without someone knowing and loving my father. I met friends of my dads at Music Festivals, Track Meets, High School Summer Institute, and even EFY's.
I am so proud to be able to call David Teichert my father. I am extremely grateful for all the wonderful lessons he has taught me and the stories he has shared with me that someday I will be able to share with my children about their grandfather. I love my dad more than words can describe and am so grateful to have such an amazing man, father, and best friend in my life.
Thank you Dad for always being my number 1 man :) I love you!

Realizations
Kebra Kay Kallstrom and I have had some of the best, worst, saddest, happiest, heart wrenching moments of our lives together. We have gone through tons of things together and she is my all time best friend. Through this last year we have had to deal with losing Keb's mom which has been one of the hardest experiences in our lives so far. Losing mamma Denise Kallstrom has brought so many new point of view into life. Every day I spend with Keb I see how much more and more alike her and her mom are which helps me know there is life after death, that the people we love live on inside us and they may physically leave us but they never really leave us. This concept in life is what helps keep me going knowing that I will get to see my Grandpa Teichert and Grandpa Stevens and Mamma Kallstrom again.
I guess what I am really trying to say is don't take what you have for granite because you never know when it will be gone. And the next thing I have realized is just how important and how much I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Thank you dad and mom and the people of Cokeville for helping me grow up to be a daughter of God and teaching me all that I know now.

Little Surprises
In spending my day being a nanny to some adorable little boys I have learned many important life skills. The first being that even though I say I don't want to have children; I know I will. Every time I see a little kid I get so excited and love playing games and smiling and having fun with them. Keb and I took two little boys to the park last night and in racing them to the playground and helping them get ready for bed I felt that feeling of love overwhelm me. I'm always saying how it scares me that I'm not ready to have children but part of me thinks that if I ever did have kids I would be alright.
So in thinking all this over it made me realize how much of an impact my mom really has had on my life. My mom taught me more than I realized until I was put in the mother position. Thank you mom for always being there even when I wasn't there for you. You are the best mom and I'm sorry I never showed you the love and appreciation that you deserve. Love you Mommy!

Life
Life has thrown many curve balls my way this last year and learning how to deal with all of them has been an exhilarating challenge but has taught me that even when you can't control the situation you need to always look for the good and make it what is most important. Through school troubles to family deaths to just having dating problems there are things in life you have no control over but when things do happen its knowing that they happen for a reason that keeps me going everyday.
